MCE Women’s Business Center Receives Governor’s Citation for Outstanding Services

The Maryland Capital Enterprises’(MCE) Women’s Business Center proudly announces its recent recognition at the Maryland Women’s Small Business Celebration 2023, hosted by the Governor’s Office of Small, Minority & Women’s Business Affairs on October 10, 2023, in Crownsville, Maryland. The event marked the official commencement of Maryland Women’s Small Business Month and celebrated the crucial contributions of women-owned businesses across the state.
The celebration was graced by Special Secretary Maria Martinez, representing Governor Wes Moore, who proclaimed October as Maryland Women’s Small Business Month. In addition to this, the event witnessed the launch of program seals for the Minority Business Enterprise and Small Business Reserve programs.

One of the highlights of the event was a panel discussion on financial literacy, emphasizing the invaluable support provided to entrepreneurs by women business centers. Among the honorees of the day, the MCE Women’s Business Center, was granted the prestigious governor’s citation in recognition of their steadfast commitment to supporting women-owned businesses on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Baltimore City, Baltimore County and Anne Arundel County.

The MCE Women’s Business Center expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the Governor’s Office of Small, Minority & Women Business Affairs and the Baltimore Metropolitan Women’s Business Center for its significant role in making the event a resounding success. During the ceremony, MCE Women’s Business Center Director, Lisa Twilley, had the honor of accepting the esteemed award on behalf of the organization and delivered a compelling presentation.

The Governor’s Citation bestowed upon MCE Women’s Business Center acknowledged, “Because of your demonstration of high integrity and ability, meriting our great trust and respect, we are most pleased to award you the Governor’s Citation in appreciation of your outstanding services to the citizens of this state.”

Lisa Twilley expressed her elation regarding this prestigious recognition, saying, “We are immensely proud to receive this Governor’s Citation, which reflects our unwavering dedication to empowering women entrepreneurs in Maryland. The MCE Women’s Business Center remains committed to providing essential resources, training, and support to help women-owned businesses thrive and contribute to our state’s economic growth.”
