The Bernstein Competition is held at Salisbury University every year to allow students that are aspiring entrepreneurs an opportunity to not only present their business idea, but also compete for actual prize money and technical assistance. MCE’s President & CEO Joseph Morse, had an opportunity to be one of the judges of the competition. He said “It’s wonderful and exciting to be able to be a part of such a unique & inspiring competition!” “It not only gives contestants a chance to win money, but also gives them a chance to get valuable feedback from successful businessmen in this area.” Morse added “After talking with the contestants, this means more than the cash prize.”
MCE awarded the second place winners, The Werk LLC Team, of the competition $1,500.00 in cash and an additional $3,500.00 worth of free business consulting, as well as a membership to hotDesk.org. The Werk LLC Team is made up of freshman Aaron Wall, Kyle Cooper, Peter Baum and Matthew Lange.
MCE, which stands for Maryland Capital Enterprises is a nonprofit based in Salisbury. Their mission is to assist entrepreneurs that are getting started in business or help existing small businesses expand. MCE does this by providing various free services such as business consulting, one on one mentoring, and free training classes. They also do micro and small business loans. With their home office in Salisbury and a second location in Baltimore, MCE services all of the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Anne Arundel County, Baltimore City and Baltimore County.
