MCE Client Success Story – Precious Handy

Tell us a little about your business.

Precious Hands specializes in residential, commercial, and post-construction cleaning, with post construction cleanup being our top-selling service. Our target market includes new construction projects and commercial cleaning services. With over 20 years of experience in the industry my passion lies in the opportunity to serve our clients while consistently providing high quality service.

How did you get started?

I started my business in residential cleaning, then progressed to commercial cleaning, and eventually specialized in post-construction cleaning by securing contracts with various companies. Initially, I focused on cleaning homes where clients provided the supplies, relying solely on my labor, and I have advanced significantly over the years.

What are some of your long-term goals?

The long-term goals consist of expansion of service capabilities by diversifying services to include more specialized cleaning options, and building strong partnerships with construction companies, contractors, and real estate developers. In addition to the other goals stated. I would like to expand geographically by exploring opportunities to continue to expand in new regions, but most importantly maintain stability in years to come.

How have Maryland Capital Enterprises and the Women’s Business Center helped you?

MCE and WBC have paved the way for my future endeavors and provided Precious Hands LLC with the opportunity to expand my business when traditional banks might have overlooked me. Additionally, this opportunity has offered access to various resources that are readily available. I consider this a blessing, and I am profoundly grateful for this opportunity.

What advice would you give to someone who is starting a new business?

The advice I would offer to someone starting out in business is to thoroughly understand your industry and the market you are entering. Treat your business like a baby; it requires nourishment and care to grow. Expect long nights and challenges along the way, as business may not always go as planned. However, the most important is to remain consistent and believe in yourself and your dreams, even when faced with obstacles.
