If you haven’t heard, there’s a real Irish pub in Salisbury now and business has been brisk since opening the doors in December 2012.
Located in the Clairmont Shopping Center on Route 13 just north of Salisbury University, co-owners Jeff Trivits and Scott Urban have created an atmosphere you might find in any good pub in Ireland. They went to high school together and always dreamed about opening an Irish bar. While in college at Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island, Trivits worked at an Irish bar. And when he wasn’t working in one, he was hanging out in one.
“Scott came up to visit me a few times and he went to both places and we always said if we ever do open a place, this is what we want,” Trivits said.
As St. Patrick’s Day approaches, how do they plan to celebrate?
“I think Salisbury has been waiting for a long time to celebrate in a true Irish Pub,” Trivits said. “St. Patrick’s Day is going to be crazy. All weekend will be filled with great food specials, LOTS of Guinness and everyone having a really good time.”
They will have an official ribbon-cutting on Friday the 15th, at 4 p.m. with the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce kicking off the weekend. Live music on Saturday will feature the Folk Heroes and Sunday will see a performance by The Delmarva Emerald Societal Pipes and Drums starting at 2 p.m.
To what do they owe their success so far?
“The local community has been fantastic and has supported us way beyond our expectations and we couldn’t be more pleased,” Trivits said.
“I have been in Salisbury and have worked for some great restaurants and bars and have learned a lot from the owners and even more from the guests that frequent all the local places. And what I have learned is this. People work hard for their money in this town and what they want is simple. They want good food, exceptional service, a great atmosphere and they want it for a fair price. We believe this is the winning combination that will get people to come back time and time again,” he said.

2nd Annual Bagpipe Walk Downtown Salisbury
You can also celebrate in downtown Salisbury at Market Street Inn and Mojo’s, according to owner Rob Mulford. But why choose only one? Starting at 2 p.m. patrons can purchase a “passport” they can have stamped at each location, and follow the bagpipers back and forth.
Stamp the “passport” at each restaurant twice and receive a free drink. Once all four stamps are collected present your “passport” at Mojo’s and receive a free T-shirt. Proceeds from the walk will benefit the Wicomico Humane Society.
Expect a good share of Irish food, including lamb stew, corned beef and cabbage, and wet corn bread. Market Street Inn sells 25 times more corned beef on St. Patrick’s Day than any other day.
Drinks specials will also feature Guiness, Tullamore Dew, and Dublin Apple.

Denton’s Market Street Public House Celebrates 5 Years
Bryan Tyler, the general manager of Denton’s Market Street Public House, is planning a big outdoor party for the Irish pub’s 5th birthday… complete with a pig roast.
His partner brought to the Eastern Shore decades of experience in how to run an Irish Pub having managed the successful Irish Times restaurant in Washington, D.C. for 38 years.
The party for St. Patrick’s Day will kick off at 9 a.m. under a tent with the green beer flowing from the beer truck and the pig is expected to be ready at Noon. Traditional Irish food will also be served in the restaurant all day and live music from Chester River Runoff.
