This month’s Client Spotlight features Betsy Long, owner of B. Long Socials LLC, a growing social media management company helping businesses across the Eastern Shore and beyond strengthen their online presence through creativity, consistency, and genuine connection.

What Does B. Long Socials Do?

B. Long Socials is a Social Media Management business. We provide social media-related services for small to medium-sized businesses on the Shore and beyond. Our services aim to grow and enhance a business’s social media presence using an approach that values three main attributes: authenticity, consistency, and reciprocity. We have been in business since 2023. Our main service is Social Media Management, but that can include anything from content creation, product and event photography, editing, merchandise or logo design, consulting, advising on strategy, and of course, planning, posting, and engagement for our clients. We pride ourselves on getting to know our clients through this work, embodying the passion they have for their business, and translating that through their social media presence. Our ultimate goal is that it is not obvious that a client is outsourcing their social media. We take the time-consuming, undesirable, or overwhelming work of social media off our clients’ plates so they can focus on running their business.

How Did the Business Get Started?

I started this business after being given the opportunity to work on social media as part of my job at Olympia Fitness Clubs, and I loved it. The challenge of figuring out what worked, along with seeing an idea turn into engagement and help a business succeed, were things that I truly enjoyed. It started when a friend who was opening a business trusted me pretty blindly (shout out to our first born!) to work on their social media, and things spread quickly from there. I can honestly say we work with the BEST clients and have been given so many great opportunities simply through word-of-mouth and our clients hyping us up to other business owners and friends.

What Are Your Goals for the Future?

Long-term, we always want to continue growing our client base, but it is really about staying on top of trends and the direction social media for businesses is heading. I would love to bring on more related services, but our ultimate goal is adapting and growing with our current clients to retain and grow those accounts while bringing success to more people and businesses.

How Has MCE and the Women’s Business Center Helped Your Business?

MCE and the Women’s Business Center have been invaluable to my business. There are so many free resources available that have given me insight and support. I have also been given the opportunity to regularly present webinars that the community can access free-of-charge and share the knowledge I have and what we do to help people who may not yet have the need or means to invest in social media services at this point in their business journey. It is amazing to help other small business owners, and I think exposing as many people as possible to what we do — and that we exist — certainly doesn’t hurt!

What Advice Would You Give Other Entrepreneurs?

My advice is that there is no way around the work and time it takes to be successful. Any shortcut you find will eventually come back to impede your progress. Honesty and integrity will get you farther than any “hack” out there.
