Certification Received

MCE has great news to share … after over a year of waiting and wondering, we were notified last month by the Small Business Administration (SBA) that MCE has received SBA certification as an Intermediary Microlender for the State of Maryland. As a matter of fact, MCE is the ONLY Intermediary Microlender in the State of Maryland!

Along with the certification, MCE received $100,000 from the SBA for re-lending.

This is a tremendous honor and a major accomplishment for MCE and brings some changes to the agency. One of the biggest changes you'll see will be increased loan amounts. Sometime this Fall, MCE will be positioned to loan up to $35,000 to SBA compatible projects. However, other very important "behind the scenes" changes include an increased ability to leverage funds, access to additional grant funds in future years, more capacity to provide technical assistance services and direct access to and inclusion in SBA sponsored events.
